Major Record Companies Sue AI Music Generators Suno and Udio 🔥
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Sony Music have filed a lawsuit against AI music generators Suno and Udio for alleged copyright infringement.
Details:
The lawsuit accuses Suno and Udio of infringing on copyrighted sound recordings "at an almost unimaginable scale," using them to train their AI models without permission.
The labels are seeking an injunction to stop the companies from using copyrighted songs for training purposes and are also demanding damages for existing infringements, which could amount to as much as $150,000 per work infringed.
Suno and Udio are accused of allegedly plagiarizing songs by well-known artists, including Jason Derulo, Jerry Lee Lewis, and CashMoneyAP.
This case, like many others involving AI-generated images or texts, centers on whether training AI with copyrighted material constitutes fair use or infringement. The result of this lawsuit could establish a precedent for the AI industry.
AI DEEPFAKES
Jack Dorsey Warns of a Future Where Reality and Deep Fakes Blur
Former Twitter CEO and co-founder Jack Dorsey has issued a warning about the future of authenticity in our digital age.
With the rapid rise of AI-generated content and deep fakes, Dorsey predicts that distinguishing between what is real and what is fake will become increasingly challenging in the next 5-10 years.
In response to these growing concerns, AI companies like OpenAI have introduced watermarking for images generated using its ChatGPT and DALL-E 3 technologies. However, even OpenAI acknowledges that this measure might not be enough to prevent misuse.
Dorsey's advice is clear: "Don't trust; verify." He stresses the importance of personal experience and learning to navigate this new landscape.
