UK and US Refuse to Sign AI Declaration at Paris Summit
Countries like France, China, and India pledged to support an "open," "inclusive," and "ethical" approach to the technology's development, but the UK and US refused to sign the agreement, expressing concerns over national security and overregulation.

The UK government cited gaps in "practical clarity" on global governance and national security as reasons for not signing.
Meanwhile, U.S. Vice President JD Vance criticized Europe's "massive" AI regulations, saying they could stifle innovation. He emphasized the need for "pro-growth" policies and rejected strict content moderation measures, calling them "authoritarian censorship."
While Europe pushes for stricter AI rules, the US is prioritizing economic growth and the acceleration of AI development, sometimes rolling back regulations considered too restrictive.
The move has drawn mixed reactions and underscores a growing divide in how nations approach AI governance. Some fear it undermines credibility in AI safety, while others welcome a pragmatic approach to balance innovation and regulation.

Perplexity AI Launches Ultra-Fast AI Search Model "Sonar"
Perplexity AI has released an updated version of its Sonar model, capable of delivering lightning-fast, factually accurate search responses.
Details:
Fine-tuned on Meta's Llama 3.3 70B and powered by hardware from Cerebras Systems, Sonar can process 1,200 tokens per second, allowing it to generate responses almost instantly while maintaining accuracy and user-friendliness.
In internal tests, the company says Sonar outperforms premium models like GPT-4o and Claude 3.5 Sonnet in answer factuality, readability, user satisfaction, and adherence to user-provided instructions.
For now, only paying Pro users have access to Sonar, though Perplexity plans to make it more widely available in the future.
Perplexity continues to gain attention as an AI-native alternative to traditional search engines, with the new model expected to give it a significant boost. The near-instant, accurate results could be especially appealing to enterprise customers who prioritize productivity.

Qwen 2.5 is Alibaba’s latest AI model, which the company claims outperforms GPT-4o, DeepSeek-V3, and Llama-3.1-405B. Here’s how you can try it out:
Access Qwen 2.5 on Qwen Chat
Go to chat.qwenlm.ai.
Click Sign in and log in with your email or Google account.
Once logged in, find the drop-down menu at the top to select different Qwen 2.5 versions.
Choose the version you want to use (Qwen 2.5 Plus, Max, or other variants).
Enter your prompt in the chatbox, and Qwen 2.5 will generate a response.
