Perplexity AI And Deutsche Telekom To Launch New 'AI Phone' This Year 📱
T-Mobile's parent company has announced plans to release a new Perplexity chatbot-powered "AI Phone" during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.
Details:
The new device will run "Magenta AI," which gives users access to Perplexity Assistant as the main AI for handling most tasks, along with Google Cloud AI for real-time translation, ElevenLabs for AI-driven podcast creation, Picsart for AI avatar creation, and other AI tools that will become available over time.
The Perplexity Assistant will enable an "app-less" experience, primarily controlled by voice, allowing users to book flights, make reservations, call taxis, and shop without switching between apps.
It is expected to be priced under $1,000, and while its exact hardware specs are still unknown, images suggest it will resemble a mid-range Android device with practical design elements, including a pink sleep/wake button.
The AI phone will be revealed later this year, with sales beginning in 2026. Initially, it will launch in the European market before expanding globally.

Anthropic Valued at $61.5B After Latest Funding Round
Anthropic has secured $3.5 billion in Series E funding, raising its valuation to $61.5 billion and reinforcing its status as one of the world’s most valuable private companies while showing that investor appetite for leading AI developers remains strong.

The funding round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and supported by notable investors such as Cisco, Fidelity, and Salesforce Ventures.
It comes shortly after the launch of the company’s latest flagship AI model, Claude 3.7 Sonnet, a “hybrid reasoning” model.
“With this investment, Anthropic will advance its development of next-generation AI systems, expand its compute capacity, deepen its research in mechanistic interpretability and alignment, and accelerate its international expansion,” the company said in its announcement.
Anthropic bills itself as a safety-focused option in the AI market, but like OpenAI and other AI model companies, it continues to operate at a significant loss.

How to use Norton's free AI-powered scam detector
This AI-powered tool helps detect potential scams by analyzing messages, social media posts, or websites.
1. Gather the suspicious content
First, collect the email, text message, or social media post that seems questionable. You can either:
Take a screenshot or photo of it.
Copy the text directly.
2. Upload the image or paste the copied text
Go to the Genie website to start your analysis. If you captured an image, select the option to upload a picture. If you copied text, choose the Add Text option.
3. Start the scan
Click Begin Scan, and Genie will analyze the message.
4. Review the results
Genie will process the text, check links, and look for signs of a scam. It will then classify the message as safe, malicious, or just suspicious. If a scam is detected, Genie may also identify the type.
5. Get more details
If available, click More Details to learn about the specific scam tactics at play.
6. Chat with Genie
You can interact with Genie to ask further questions about the results. The chat feature provides suggested questions, or you can type your own to dig deeper into the analysis.
👉 You can also download the Genie mobile app. It works similarly to the website but may be more convenient for checking messages on your phone.
*Note: Genie is in early access, so it’s not fully perfected and may not always be accurate. For now, it’s one way to identify scams, but it’s best to use other methods as well. The mobile app is accessible only in the US, UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

The latest in AI and Tech
TSMC plans to invest at least $100 billion in U.S. chip manufacturing over the next four years under a plan announced Monday by the company and President Trump. “We are going to produce many AI chips … to support AI progress,” said C. C. Wei, chairman and CEO of TSMC.

There is also concern that executives could be detained or used as leverage in negotiations between the two countries, according to the WSJ.
