Sam Altman Confirms OpenAI Working on GPT-5: A Next-Generation AI Model with the Potential to Achieve AGI 🤖

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has just confirmed that the company is currently working on their next big AI model, GPT-5.

Details:

  • CEO Sam Altman suggests that with additional investments from Microsoft and other backers, GPT-5 has the potential to achieve "superintelligence."

  • The goal is for GPT-5 to not just parrot information, but to reason, originate new ideas, and process complex concepts like humans can. This is known as artificial general intelligence (AGI).

  • OpenAI will use a mix of publicly available data and proprietary datasets they purchase from companies to train GPT-5. They want more conversational data and long-form writing.

The timeline is unclear, but training will likely take months if not years before GPT-5 is ready for release.
