Runway Announces ‘Better and Faster’ Gen-3 AI video model

Runway has announced the launch of Gen-3 Alpha - a powerful new model that promises to push the boundaries of AI-generated video.

Details:

• The new model offers significant improvements in detail, consistency, and motion representation in the generated videos compared to its predecessor, Gen-2. It will support 5 and 10-second generations, with noticeably faster generation times.

• It is based on a new training infrastructure for large multimodal models and has been trained on a mix of video and images.

• It supports text-to-video, image-to-video, and text-to-image functions, as well as “control modes” such as Motion Brush, Advanced Camera Controls, and Director Mode.

• Runway is also creating customized versions of Gen-3 for entertainment and media companies.

While OpenAI's Sora raised the bar for AI video just months ago, Runway seems to have rapidly closed the gap. According to the company, Gen-3 Alpha will be available in the next few days.

Luma AI has recently launched Dream Machine, an AI model that creates high-quality, realistic videos from text and images and is available for anyone to use and experiment with.

Here's how you can use one of the best AI video generators currently available for free:

1. Go to the Luma Labs website.

2. Click on ‘Try now’ and sign in with a Google account

3. Enter a descriptive prompt like “a puppy chasing a ball on an open field” and press enter. (You can also upload an image and animate it)

4. Wait a few minutes, and the tool will generate a realistic five-second video clip that matches that scene.

5. Once the video is generated you can download it or extend it by another 5 seconds.
