AI-Powered Robot Learns to Perform at Level of Human Doctor by Watching Surgery Videos 🤯

A robot trained simply by watching surgery videos has successfully performed surgical tasks with the skill level of a human doctor.

Details:

  • For the first time, a robot has been trained using imitation learning, eliminating the need for extensive programming. It can learn various procedures in just a few days.

  • The da Vinci Surgical System robot learned essential surgical tasks such as needle manipulation, tissue lifting, and suturing by analyzing video footage.

  • The robot can adapt to new environments and self-correct, such as picking up a dropped needle, without prior specific instruction.

These findings, showcased at the Conference on Robot Learning in Munich, bring robotic surgery closer to true autonomy, where robots could perform complex surgeries without human assistance.

Baidu Announces Its Own Pair of AI Smart Glasses and Text-to-Image Generator at Annual Event

Baidu introduced new AI products, including smart glasses, a text-to-image generator, and a coding tool, at its annual Baidu World 2024 Conference in Shanghai.

Details:

  • Baidu's new text-to-image system, I-RAG, is designed to reduce inaccuracies in AI-generated images by better aligning text prompts with visual outputs.

  • The smart glasses, powered by Baidu's ERNIE AI assistant, offer features such as calorie tracking, music playback, and environmental queries, functioning as a personal assistant. These glasses are set to compete with similar products like Meta's Ray-Bans.
