China’s Black Panther 2.0 Robot Dog Breaks World Record ⚡

The Black Panther 2.0, a robot dog created by a Chinese research team, has broken the world record for the fastest 100-meter sprint by a four-legged robot, completing it in under 10 seconds.
Details:
The previous record-holder, HOUND, developed by the Dynamic Robot Control and Design Laboratory at KAIST, completed the 100 meters in 19.87 seconds.
The robot’s movements are modeled after the paws and joints of panthers and jerboas, with carbon-fiber-enhanced limbs and spring-loaded joints to maximize speed and agility.
The robot leverages AI and machine learning to adjust its gait for different terrains, making its movements more fluid and efficient.
At 83 pounds and just over two feet tall, this quadruped is now faster than most humans, though it still trails behind the fastest animals like cheetahs and ostriches.
Seeing the previous world record time reduced by half in just a year is certainly impressive. The team hopes to eventually outpace real animals in terms of speed and mobility.

Microsoft Introduces AI Tools to Create and Test New Materials from Scratch

Microsoft Research has introduced two revolutionary AI tools: MatterGen and MatterSim. These tools don’t just search for existing materials—they create new ones entirely from scratch.
Details:
MatterGen can create new materials using a specialized diffusion algorithm that builds three-dimensional molecular structures.
This system marks a fundamental shift in material discovery. Instead of screening millions of existing compounds — a traditional, time-consuming process — MatterGen directly generates novel materials based on desired characteristics, much like AI image generators create images from text descriptions.
Its companion tool, MatterSim, uses quantum mechanics and machine learning to simulate how these materials would perform under extreme real-world conditions, including temperatures up to 5,000 Kelvin and pressures up to 10 million atmospheres.
In collaboration with researchers, MatterGen has already helped design a new material, TaCr2O6, with 80% of its predicted properties matching the real-world results.
Microsoft has made MatterGen’s source code available under the MIT license and integrated both tools into its Azure Quantum Elements platform for global access.

How to use Google Gemini in Google Docs

You can collaborate with Gemini in Google Docs to help you rephrase your writing, summarize with bullet points, and more.
Write something new from scratch
Open a document in Google Docs.
Right-click where you want to write and select the “Write with Gemini” option.
Enter a prompt, such as:
"Write a poem about the life of a 6-year-old boy."
"Write a thank-you letter after an interview."
You can then refine the generated response or insert it into the document with a single click.
Rewrite text with Gemini
Select the text you want to rewrite.
Right-click and choose “Refine with Gemini.”
From the menu, pick an option:
Tone: Choose between Formal or Casual.
Summarize: Extracts the key points.
Bulletize: Formats the text into a bulleted list.
Shorten: Makes the text more concise.
Rephrase: Rewords the text.
Custom: Write your own prompt to refine the text.
You can further refine the generated response, insert the new text, or replace the original text.
Get assistance directly from Google Drive
You don’t need to open the document for Gemini to analyze it.
Open Google Drive and click the Gemini icon (located in the top right corner).
Type: “Find the file [Name of the file] + Prompt.”
Example: Find the file "Sales Data," analyze the data, and give the top 3 takeaways.
Gemini will generate a response along with a link to the Google Doc as the source.
