Rapper and innovator Will.i.am has rolled out his latest project, RAiDiO.FYI, an AI-powered app that offers a unique, personalized radio experience.

Details:

• RAiDiO.FYI uses AI to mimic a radio station, complete with AI co-hosts for engaging conversations on any topic.

• Dubbed as a "creative co-pilot," the app aims to help users brainstorm and refine their ideas.

• The app is built on IBM's Watson AI platform, though the specific language model remains under wraps.

• Beyond radio, the FYI.AI platform includes messaging, project management, and content production tools.

This isn't will.i.am's first time working with AI in music. He recently showed his interest in the technology by investing in the AI music generator Udio.

Google DeepMind Staff Protest Military Contracts

Around 200 employees at Google DeepMind have urged the company to halt its military contracts. This internal letter reflects growing concerns over the use of AI in warfare.

Details:

• Approximately 5% of Google DeepMind's workforce signed a letter demanding an end to military contracts, especially those related to Project Nimbus.

• The letter mentions fears about AI being used for warfare and surveillance, which contradicts DeepMind's original commitment not to engage in military applications.

• Employees requested a thorough investigation into the use of Google cloud services by militaries and weapons manufacturers and proposed establishing a governance body to prevent future misuse.

• Despite the strong employee push, Google has not responded meaningfully to the demands.

The employees emphasize that their concerns are not tied to any specific geopolitical conflict but point to the company's defense dealings, particularly with the Israeli military.
