Rabbit, an emerging AI startup, has announced the R1 - a standalone $199 device powered by a novel Large Action Model (LAM) designed to interact with applications and perform complex tasks.
The R1's LAM has been trained on human interaction data from popular apps such as Spotify and Uber. This allows it to navigate these apps natively without specialized programming. It serves as a universal controller for applications and is primarily voice-controlled

Notably, the R1 processes data on-device, avoiding privacy concerns associated with voice assistants that rely on cloud processing. The minimal hardware includes a 2.88” touch display, rotating camera, and scroll wheel that facilitate versatile voice or manual control.
Essentially, the R1 represents specialized hardware for a next-generation AI assistant that promises to handle Internet-based tasks with the flexibility of a human user. According to Rabbit CEO Jesse Lyu, the device is likely to compete with devices like Humane's new AI Pin or Amazon’s Alexa rather than regular smartphones.
The R1 is now available for pre-order at $199, shipping in March.
VALVE
Valve Updates its Steam Policy on AI
Source: Steam
Valve has implemented new rules regarding AI-generated content in games published on Steam. Previously, Valve rejected titles containing assets created by AI, citing copyright concerns. However, under the new guidelines:
Developers must disclose the use of AI tools to generate content like art, code, or audio
The Steam page will note the use of AI and let players report concerning material
The goal is to balance innovation and safety. Players can make informed purchases, while developers utilize AI within legal bounds.
As AI technology and relevant laws progress, Valve may adapt its stance further. For now, most AI games can publish on Steam with appropriate transparency.
This announcement follows developer complaints when previously barred from Steam over AI content rights issues. Valve later clarified its review process reflects copyright law, not just their views.
