Qualcomm Introduces New AI-Enhanced Chips for Phones and PCs 💥

Qualcomm has recently unveiled two powerful new processors optimized for generative AI tasks, with one designed for laptops and the other tailored for mobile phones.

  1. Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Mobile

Qualcomm's new flagship mobile processor brings advanced AI capabilities right to the chipset. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is packed with new features that use AI and machine learning to enhance photos, videos, speech, and more.

Details:

  • The chip can run an AI chatbot trained on Meta's Llama 2. It accepts text, voice, and image input and can respond back conversationally.

  • On-device image generation with Stable Diffusion takes less than 1 second to create an image from a text prompt.

  • New camera features use AI for object removal in video, 4K night mode recording, and "Vlogger's View" to seamlessly combine selfie and rear cameras.

  • Photo processing features like generative image expansion use AI to let you zoom out and re-crop images right on your phone.

Beyond AI, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 also brings the usual performance upgrades.

  1. Snapdragon X Elite for PC

Qualcomm claims it is the most powerful computing processor it has ever created for the PC.

Details:

  • It is powered by the Qualcomm Oryon CPU, a mobile computing CPU leader, it offers more CPU performance with much less power consumption.

  • Snapdragon X Elite excels in on-device AI tasks, running generative AI models with over 13 billion parameters. Qualcomm claims it outpaces competitors with 4.5 times faster AI processing power.

The surging demand for AI is driving companies like Qualcomm to reshape their products and assert themselves as leaders in on-device AI technology.
