OpenAI Plans to Charge $20,000/Month for PhD-Level AI Agents

According to a report by The Information, OpenAI is developing premium-priced AI agents designed as direct replacements for highly paid specialists.

Details:

  • OpenAI will introduce these AI agents in three tiers: basic agents for "high-income knowledge workers" at $2K/month, developer agents at $10K/month, and PhD-level research assistants at $20K/month.

  • Basic agents would handle tasks like evaluating sales leads, developer agents would assist experienced programmers with coding, and the top-tier agents would tackle complex scientific research questions.

  • OpenAI expects these agents to contribute up to 25% of its total revenue, but despite the high pricing, the company doesnā€™t expect to reach profitability until 2030.

Itā€™s unclear when these agentic tools might launch or which customers will be eligible to purchase them, but OpenAI is betting big that these AI assistants will generate enough value to justify the price tag as the company continues to face challenges in building a sustainable business model.

Google Introduces New ā€˜AI Modeā€™ for Search

Google is doubling down on bringing AI to Search with an expansion of its AI Overviews and a new experimental 'AI Mode'.

Details:

  • Enhanced by Gemini 2.0, AI Overviews will now handle more complex queries, including coding, advanced math, and reasoning tasks, offering faster and more detailed answers.

  • Currently in testing, AI Mode is designed to let users ask complex, multi-part questions and follow-ups to explore topics more deeply within Google Search. It can break down complex subjects, compare options, analyze pros and cons, and provide deeper insights by pulling from multiple sources.

  • AI Mode is rolling out this week to Google One AI Premium subscribers and is accessible via Search Labs.

Google is looking to take on services like Perplexity AI and OpenAIā€™s ChatGPT Search, which are steadily growing in popularity with their own takes on AI-assisted browsing.

  1. Open Canva on your browser or your mobile app to access for free

  2. On the Canva Dashboard, select ā€œCreate a designā€ on the top right corner. choose your dimensions and then finally tap on ā€œcreate new design.ā€ A new screen will appear with a clean canvas.

  3. Upload your black and white image and click on it.

  4. Then, go to ā€œAppsā€ at the bottom left corner, scroll down to find ā€œColorify,ā€ and select it.

  5. Wait for a few seconds, and your black and white image will be colorized.

  6. You can adjust its saturation and hues by tapping on the image and selecting ā€œEdit imageā€ at the top left of the screen.

  7. Once you're done with the edits, download your image.

Prime Video is experimenting with AI-assisted dubbing for select licensed movies and TV shows. The test will feature AI-assisted dubbing services in English and Latin American Spanish, combining AI with human localization professionals to 'ensure quality control.

The company hopes its recommendations will help develop a national AI policy that it says will ā€œbetter prepare America to capture the economic benefitsā€ of AI.
