KUAISHOU

China's Rival to OpenAI's Sora 🔥

Source: Kling

Chinese tech company Kuaishou has unveiled KLING, a new impressive AI video generation model that could be the strongest competitor for OpenAI's Sora so far.

Details:

  • The AI model for video generation can produce videos up to two minutes long at 1080p resolution and 30 fps

  • Similar to OpenAI's Sora, it also uses a “diffusion transformer” that allows the combination of concepts and the generation of fictitious scenes that were not part of the training dataset.

  • Demos show realistic videos, like a kid eating a hamburger, and playful ones, such as a cat driving a car through a busy city.

The model is currently available as a public demo in China and is already making waves on social media with its mind-blowing demos. You can check out more examples of the model in action here.

MICROSOFT

Microsoft CTO: New AI Models to Outperform GPT-4 and Capable of Passing PhD Exams

In a recent conversation with LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, Microsoft's Chief Technology Officer Kevin Scott, who has already seen a preview of the next generation of AI models following GPT-4, shared his insights into the future of AI.

Details:

  • Scott predicts that the next generation of AI models could pass PhD qualifying exams.

  • He highlights expected breakthroughs in reasoning and models' ability to remember past conversations and information.

  • However, he cautions against overstating these achievements, noting that their true value lies in practical applications. GPT-4's ability to score perfectly on exams might be impressive but doesn't necessarily equate to real-world usefulness.

Kevin Scott emphasizes making AI genuinely useful for people, enabling tasks to be completed in days instead of months and handling the most stressful work.
