The study looked at both the training phase and operational process of AI to understand its effect on the environment.
They found that an AI writing a page of text emits 130 to 1500 times less CO2e than a human doing so. Similarly, an AI creating an image emits 310 to 2900 times less.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is in discussions with investors to raise $5 to $7 trillion in support of a tech initiative aimed at enhancing the world's chip-building capacity and expanding its ability to fuel AI.
Details:
The initiative would help address constraints impeding OpenAI's growth, such as limited access to specialized AI chips.
Altman is proposing collaborations between OpenAI, investors, chip manufacturers, and energy companies to build new foundries that would then be operated by chipmakers.
The SIA has projected a 13.1% rise in global chip sales, with estimates reaching $595.3 billion for this year.
Nvidia remains the market leader in AI chips reporting record-breaking revenue.

Brilliant Labs has unveiled Frame, the world’s first glasses featuring an integrated multimodal AI assistant. Noa, a ‘one-of-a-kind’ AI assistant, resides within the elegant design of Frame.
Details:
Noa is powered by an integrated multimodal generative AI system that can run GPT4, Stability AI, and the Whisper AI model concurrently. This allows it to conduct novel image production, real-time speech recognition and translation, and real-world visual processing.
It analyzes user interactions to develop a unique personality profile.
Perplexity AI has also announced they're teaming up with

The FCC is making it illegal for robocalls to use AI-generated voices. This verdict provides state attorneys general the authority to hold scammers liable merely for employing an AI-generated voice, even though they could already pursue the scammers behind robocalls based on the fraud or scam they're doing.
OpenAI reportedly developing AI assistants to automate work
OpenAI is reportedly in the process of developing two types of AI agents designed to automate entire workflows. One agent can purportedly take over a user's device and perform tedious tasks like transferring data between documents or filling out expense reports.
The other type of AI assistant is web-based and capable of activities like collecting public data from the internet or creating travel itineraries.
This aligns with OpenAI's reported goal to turn ChatGPT into a 'super smart personal assistant for work.'
U.S. Government brings together 200+ companies in AI safety consortium
The Biden Administration has united over 200 leading AI companies, including OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and Amazon, under the US AI Safety Institute Consortium. The group will focus on developing guidelines and measurement science for the safe testing and deployment of generative AI
