Microsoft Makes OpenAIā€™s o1 Reasoning Model Free for All Copilot Users šŸ‘€

Microsoft is rolling out OpenAIā€™s o1 reasoning model to all Copilot usersā€”for free. Previously available only to paid Copilot Pro or ChatGPT Plus subscribers.

Details:

  • The "Think Deeper" feature leverages OpenAI's o1 reasoning model to tackle complex problems by providing detailed, step-by-step responses.

  • It enables Copilot to process and respond better to queries, such as comparing options, creating code for apps, or planning detailed tasks.

  • Users can access it by tapping the Think Deeper button inside Copilot.

  • Free users are limited to three queries per week, while Pro subscribers face variable limits based on server capacity and concurrent usage. However, Microsoft claims it is expanding its usage limits.

Mustafa Suleyman, Microsoft AI CEO, expressed excitement over the featureā€™s wider availability and hinted that more updates are on the way.

Googleā€™s ā€˜Ask for Meā€™ Feature Calls Businesses on Your Behalf

Google is testing a new AI feature, "Ask for Me," that can call local businesses on your behalf to gather information or book appointments.

Details:

  • "Ask for Me" uses AI to make calls to businesses, asking questions like service availability, pricing, or booking needs. It is currently limited to nail salons and auto shops.

  • The feature is available as an experiment in Google Search Labs. If enabled, users will see an ā€œAsk for Meā€ option when searching for nail salons or auto shops.

  • Users provide details (e.g., service type or car model) and their contact info to receive updates. Google calls the business and relays the collected information back.

  • Googleā€™s AI announces itself as an automated system calling from Google on behalf of a user.

  • Businesses can opt out of receiving calls via their Google Business Profile. Google also enforces call limits to avoid overwhelming businesses.

While itā€™s still in testing, the feature shows promiseā€”though it may take time for businesses to adjust to handling calls made by AI.
