GPT-4o - OpenAI's New Flagship Model Now Powering ChatGPT 🔥

OpenAI announced a new flagship AI model called GPT-4o on Monday, alongside other exciting changes for both free and paid users.
The new model GPT4-o:
GPT-4o provides GPT-4-level intelligence while adding multi-modal capabilities to understand and generate content across text, audio, and visual formats.
ChatGPT's voice capabilities get supercharged by this new model. GPT-4o enables real-time voice interaction, allowing users to interrupt responses, receive audio outputs with different emotive styles like singing, and enjoy more natural and intelligent conversational experiences.
GPT-4o also upgrades ChatGPT's vision skills for understanding photos, code, video feeds, etc.
For API users, GPT-4o is twice as fast, costs half as much, and has higher rate limits than GPT-4 Turbo
Other announcements:
A new desktop version of ChatGPT for macOS was announced. ChatGPT Plus users will get access to the app first, starting today, and a Windows version will arrive later in the year.
Paywalls removed for several features: Free users will now be able to upload files and photos, search the web for answers to timely questions, get access to the GPT store, and use ChatGPT’s memory capability that allows ChatGPT to 'remember' preferences for future interactions.
GPT-4o is available for all free and paid users starting today. Subscribers to OpenAI’s premium ChatGPT Plus/Team plans will enjoy "5x higher" message limits. (ChatGPT will automatically switch to GPT-3.5 when users hit the rate limit)
Note: These changes are being rolled out gradually, so you might not have access to them just yet.
The improved voice capabilities will roll out to paid users in the following weeks.

Anthropic's Claude 3, a major competitor to ChatGPT, can finally be accessed in Europe. The company also released an iOS app for Claude, allowing users to utilize the advanced conversational AI capabilities on their mobile devices.
NASA has appointed David Salvagnini as its Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer. Salvagnini will replace Kate Calvin, the agency's Chief Scientist and former Responsible AI Official, in leading NASA's efforts on AI technology. His role will involve driving AI development and facilitating collaborations with academia and industry experts.
Apple is revamping its virtual assistant Siri by integrating generative AI capabilities, according to a New York Times report. This move comes after Apple executives reportedly tested ChatGPT and realized Siri lagged behind in performance.
Microsoft has announced its most significant investment to date in France - €4 billion aimed at accelerating AI and cloud adoption. The comprehensive package focuses on AI infrastructure, skills training for 1 million people, and supporting 2,500 AI startups by 2027.
Swedish fintech firm Klarna revealed that an astounding 90% of its 5,000-strong workforce now utilizes generative AI tools on a daily basis in their work. This includes widespread adoption of OpenAI's ChatGPT as well as Klarna's own internal AI assistant.
