OpenAI Launches 'Operator,' AI Agent That Performs Tasks Autonomously Online 🤖

OpenAI has introduced an AI agent called Operator, designed to perform tasks on the web just like a human. Available as a “research preview,” Operator can browse, click, scroll, and type on websites.
Details:
Operator is an AI agent that uses GPT-4’s vision and “advanced reasoning” to interact with websites directly. It can 'see' and 'interact' with a browser, enabling it to take actions on the web, such as filling out forms, scrolling through web pages, and clicking buttons.
The agent can use reasoning to “self-correct,” and if it gets stuck or encounters sensitive situations (like login forms), it will ask the user to step in.
The company admits there are still some limitations; the tool "cannot reliably handle many complex or specialized tasks" yet, such as creating slideshows or managing calendars.
The feature will first be available to ChatGPT Pro users in the US, with plans to expand to Team and Enterprise tiers, as well as other countries, "soon."
While it’s still in its early stages, this tech has the potential to change the way we interact with AI and our PCs. It’ll soon be clear if the hype around AI agents as the next big thing was justified.

ANTHROPIC
Anthropic Introduces 'Citations' Feature to Improve AI Reliability

Anthropic has introduced Citations, a new feature for its developer API aimed at improving the accuracy of AI responses.
Details:
Citations enables AI models to reference specific sentences and passages from source documents, reducing errors and improving answer reliability.
The feature is live on Anthropic’s API and Google’s Vertex AI platform. However, it’s only supported by Claude 3.5 Sonnet and Claude 3.5 Haiku models.
Citations isn’t free. The cost depends on the length and number of source documents. For example, analyzing a 100-page document costs around $0.30 with Claude 3.5 Sonnet or $0.08 with Claude 3.5 Haiku.
The feature could be a game-changer, helping developers reduce "hallucinations" and other AI-induced errors while creating AI solutions with enhanced accountability.
