OpenAI Releases AI Agent 'Deep Research' š

OpenAI has introduced "Deep Research," a new AI agent designed to autonomously gather information from across the internet and synthesize it into concise reports, accomplishing in tens of minutes what would take a human many hours.
Details:
Users can ask questions using text, images, PDFs, or spreadsheets for context. The tool takes 5-30 minutes to respond with detailed outputs, including citations.
It is available to ChatGPT Pro users today, limited to 100 queries per month, with support for Plus and Team users coming next, followed by Enterprise. (It will not be available to ChatGPT users in the UK, Switzerland, and the EU until further notice.)
The model powering Deep Research scored a new high for accuracy on an AI benchmark called 'Humanityās Last Exam,' which tests responses to expert-level questions. It achieved a score of 26.6%, well above others like GPT-4oās 3.3% or Claude 3.5 Sonnetās 4.3%.
It still has some limitations: OpenAI admits the feature āsometimes hallucinatesā or struggles to differentiate between credible and unreliable sources.
While it is still not perfect, the new tool has the potential to change the way people approach tasks like intensive knowledge work in areas like finance, science, policy, and engineering, where thorough, precise, and reliable research is preferred over quick answers.
TOGETHER WITH TRADE
Ditch grocery store coffee. Support small roasters instead with Trade
I donāt know about you, but like most Americans, the first thing I reach for every morning is my favorite mug and the coffee in my pantry. For years, I grabbed whatever coffee was on sale at the grocery store, never considering its origin. As long as it got me going, that was enough. But then I found Trade, and it completely transformed my morning routine. Trade connects you with some of the finest small-batch coffee roasters across the countryāthe kind of local businesses youād want to visit if they were nearby. These arenāt giant chains with mass-produced blends; these are passionate artisans crafting coffee thatās fresh, unique, and bursting with flavor. I took Tradeās quick quiz, and they matched me with coffees I never wouldāve found on a grocery store shelf. Now, I canāt imagine going back. Every bag is roasted fresh and shipped straight to me. The difference in taste was astoundingāI didnāt even have to change my brewing method. And the aroma? Letās just say even my neighbor asked what I was drinking. Supporting small businesses has never been easierāor more rewarding. Plus, Horizon AI readers can receive an exclusive 30% off their first subscription order when you sign up today.
Simply share your preferencesālike taste, grind, and coffee consumptionāand Trade will match you with the perfect roast. Thereās no risk, just amazing coffee and the satisfaction of supporting local roasters, plus one less item on your grocery list.
AI REGULATION
The EU is Now Enforcing the AI Act, Banning High-Risk AI Systems

As of February 2, regulators in the European Union can ban any AI systems considered to pose an 'unacceptable risk' to individuals or society.
Details:
The AI Act categorizes AI into four risk levels ā minimal, limited, high, and unacceptable. This compliance phase focuses on eliminating use cases in the fourth category.
Some of the prohibited activities include AI systems that manipulate decisions, exploit vulnerabilities, predict crimes based on appearance, or collect biometric data in public spaces for law enforcement.
Companies found violating these rules face steep fines, up to ā¬35 million or 7% of annual revenue, whichever is greater.
Some exemptions exist, such as for law enforcement or medically justified systems, but only under strict oversight and with proper authorization.
Over 100 companies, including Google and OpenAI, have voluntarily pledged to comply with the Act ahead of enforcement. However, notable absentees include Meta and Apple.

Generate insights and charts from your data in Google Sheets with a single click

Gemini in Google Sheets can now write Python code to help you visualize and analyze data more easily through insights and charts.
Open a Google Sheets document and click the Gemini icon in the top right corner.
Click āGenerate a chartā and wait a few seconds. (You can also use your own prompts)
Once the chart is generated, you can insert it into your document. Additionally, the code it used is visible, allowing you to reuse it for future data analysis.
Note: The charts generated are static images; they are not linked to your sheet data, so they won't update automatically if your data changes.
