OpenAI is Working on X-like Social Media Network

OpenAI is reportedly developing a social network similar to X—not just to compete with Meta, Google, and xAI's Grok, but also to serve as a source of data.
Details:
The project is still in its early stages, but there’s an internal prototype focused on ChatGPT’s image generation that includes a social feed.
The report states that it’s not yet clear whether OpenAI plans to launch the social network as a standalone app or integrate it into the ChatGPT app.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has reportedly been privately seeking feedback from outsiders about the social network.
Meanwhile, the potential move could further escalate tensions between Altman and billionaire Elon Musk, as the two are set to begin a jury trial in the spring of next year.
Though it remains uncertain whether the early-stage social media project will ever publicly launch, the move could give OpenAI access to unique, real-time data — a competitive advantage that X and Meta already have by using public content from their platforms to train their AI models.

Anthropic Adds Research Tool, Google Workspace Integration to Claude

Anthropic today updated its Claude chatbot with two major features: a new Research tool that generates highly detailed answers to user questions, and a new integration with Google Workspace.
Details:
Claude can now connect directly to your Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Docs, incorporating information from these into prompt responses.
It can 'pull together meeting notes from last week, identify action items from follow-up email threads, and search relevant documents for additional context.'
When the new Research tool is enabled, Claude runs not just one, but 'multiple searches that build on each other' to find information, sifting through both internal data, such as business documents, and the public web.
After assembling the retrieved information into a prompt response, Research adds citations to help users verify the output.
The Research function is now in early beta for Max, Team, and Enterprise plans in the U.S., Japan, and Brazil, while the Google Workspace integration is in beta for all paid users.
