OpenAI Drama Continues: Altman Still Trying to Return as CEO š„

The saga over the leadership of OpenAI is still unfolding with new twists. Here's a breakdown of the latest developments:
Sam Altman and Greg Brockman are still attempting to return to OpenAI. Altman's announced move to Microsoft is not yet finalized.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella made it clear that itās possible Sam Altman could return to OpenAI in some capacity.
Chief Scientist Ilya Sutskever has flipped to support Altman's return. With Sutskever's backing, only two of the remaining three board members who fired Altman need to change their position to clear the way for Altman's reinstatement.
OpenAI's board of directors reportedly reached out to Anthropic's CEO regarding the possibility of replacing Sam Altman and exploring a potential merger between the two AI startups. However, both requests were declined by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei.
Former GitHub CEO Friedman and Scale AI Founder Alexandr Wang were also considered as potential replacements for Altman, but both declined the offer.
There was massive internal opposition at OpenAI to the appointment of Twitch co-founder Emmett Shear as the new CEO.
Over 700 OpenAI employees have now signed the open letter demanding the boardās resignation and the reinstatement of Altman and Brockman. The letter was backed by Sutskever in a stunning turnaround.
OpenAI investors are considering legal action against the board following the removal of CEO Sam Altman, which has triggered a potential mass exodus of employees.
The drama continues to play out by the hour. We'll keep monitoring the situation closely and provide updates on any decisive developments.
AI RESEARCH
MetaDreamer Pushes Boundaries of Text-to-3D Generation
Source: MetaDreamer
Researchers from MetaApp AI Research and several Chinese universities have unveiled MetaDreamer, an AI system that creates detailed 3D models directly from text descriptions faster than any previous method.
Details:
In just 20 minutes, MetaDreamer can generate a high-quality 3D model on an Nvidia A100 GPUāthe fastest time yet for text-to-3D generation.
The system uses a two-phase approach, first shaping the basic geometry and then adding realistic textures and details.
In benchmarks, MetaDreamer outperforms previous state-of-the-art systems like Dreamfusion and Magic3D on speed, quality, and text-alignment accuracy.
Models showcase an impressive level of detail across different viewing anglesāa common pain point for other generative 3D techniques.
There's still room for improvement, especially for scenes with multiple interactive objects. However, the research displays remarkable progress in text-to-3D generation.
AI Tutorial
Create Powerful GPTs in Minutes
OpenAI's new feature, GPT Builder, allows anyone to create useful GPTs without any coding required. Just follow these easy steps.:
Go to āExploreā and click on āCreate a GPTā
Share specific details about your desired outcome.
Be as thorough as possible. Hereās an example of the creation of a GPT that would help in writing blog posts:
In the example, it was important to mention details on what we were aiming for in terms of Images, SEO, Tone, Topics, and Audience.
If you encounter difficulties in writing a description, you can attach documents as examples, or you can ask ChatGPT for assistance.
ChatGPT will ask you questions to help clarify your instructions and will give you a similar result to the one shown above
You donāt need to worry about missing details because ChatGPT Builder will prompt you with several questions for clarification
Save the GPT
Once the ChatGPT Builder gives you a notice that it is all set up, you can proceed to save the GPT and make it public, or only available for you or those with a link.
Give it a try and edit if needed
Start using your new GPT to test its performance. If there are some things you would like to change or additional details you would like to add, you can go to 'edit GPT'.
There are no limits to how many GPTs you can build and there are infinite possibilities on what you can do with this new exciting feature.

AI paves path to 4-day workweek
New research finds AI could enable 28% of British and American workers, over 40 million people, to move to 32-hour, 4-day workweeks by 2033 without losing pay. Large language models like ChatGPT introduced into workplaces could significantly boost productivity and offset reduced hours. The study argues this AI-enabled shift could improve work-life balance and avoid mass unemployment from automation.
UK Startup tackles pothole problem with AI Robot

A Liverpool-based startup has developed the world's first AI robot that can locate and autonomously fix potholes. Combining patented technology from the University of Liverpool with artificial intelligence and advanced robotics, the system can assess road damage, predict which cracks will worsen into potholes, and seal defects before they spread. With road maintenance crews struggling to keep up across the UKās aging infrastructure, the technology promises safer, faster, and more cost-effective pothole remediation.
