OpenAI Reveals GPT-4.5 and GPT-5 Roadmap

Sam Altman has shared OpenAI’s roadmap for its next big AI models, aiming to merge OpenAI's scattered AI models and product offerings into GPT-5—a single unified system that 'just works.'

Details:

  • The o3 reasoning model won’t have its own independent release; instead, it will be integrated into GPT-5 along with multiple other OpenAI technologies.

  • Free ChatGPT users will get unlimited access to GPT-5 at a "standard intelligence setting," while Plus and Pro subscribers will gain access to higher intelligence levels with additional features like voice, canvas, search, and deep research capabilities.

  • GPT-4.5, internally codenamed “Orion,” will be OpenAI's final non-chain-of-thought model.

  • Altman didn’t specify release dates for GPT-4.5 and GPT-5 but hinted they would arrive in "weeks" and "months," respectively.

GPT-5 could mark a new chapter in AI interaction by autonomously selecting and utilizing the most suitable models and tools for each task, potentially putting an end to the current 'model picker' approach.

Check out our top-rated pet insurance providers, with some plans offering coverage for just $1 a day, multi-pet coverage, and reimbursement options of up to 90%. With the right coverage, you could keep your pet (and your wallet) happy.

Google Will Test Using AI Technology to Determine User Age

Google is testing a machine learning model in the US to help determine whether someone is under 18, allowing it to “provide more age-appropriate experiences” across its platforms.

Details:

  • Google’s AI will analyze existing data about users, like browsing habits, video preferences, and account age to estimate if a user is under 18.

  • If flagged, the user will receive a notification about updated settings. Google will also provide options to verify their age using a selfie, credit card, or government ID.

  • Underage accounts will have features like SafeSearch enabled by default, which filters explicit content. YouTube will also restrict access to videos deemed inappropriate for users under 18.

The move likely comes in response to heightened attention on online child safety in the US, but it also raises privacy concerns about the company analyzing sensitive user data.
