OpenAI Japan Announces "GPT Next" for 2024
OpenAI Japan has unveiled plans for "GPT Next," a new AI model set to launch in 2024. Promising a major leap in performance, this development was highlighted at the KDDI Summit 2024.
Details:
"GPT Next" is expected to be 100 times more powerful than its predecessors, according to OpenAI Japan CEO Tadao Nagasaki.
According to The Information, OpenAI is developing two new AI systems: "Strawberry," which enhances math and programming capabilities, and "Orion," expected to be the new āGPT Next.ā Orion is anticipated to be more reliable and logical due to training data from Strawberry.
With "GPT Next," OpenAI is on track to redefine what AI can do. As the launch gets closer, the rising excitement could make it tough to meet everyone's high expectations.

Safe Superintelligence (SSI), an AI startup co-founded by Ilya Sutskever, has successfully raised over $1 billion in funding. This financial backing comes from prominent investors such as NFDG, a16z, Sequoia, DST Global, and SV Angel. The startup, now valued at $5 billion, aims to significantly expand its capabilities.

The funding round was led by NFDG, an investment partnership managed by Nat Friedman and SSI CEO Daniel Gross, along with major venture capital firms.
SSI plans to enhance its computing power and hire top-tier researchers and engineers, focusing on locations in Palo Alto and Tel Aviv.
While SSI has yet to disclose specific research goals, the involvement of Sutskever hints at significant advancements in AI safety.
Ilya Sutskever, previously with OpenAI, left after disagreements with the board and CEO Sam Altman, bringing his expertise to SSI. With strategic investments and a team of experts on board, the future looks promising for SSI.

How to Create Googleās New 'Gems'
Similar to ChatGPT's custom GPTs, Gems lets you create custom versions of Gemini. One difference is that Gems allows you to access extensions such as YouTube, Drive, Maps, and more.
Click on āGem Managerā and select āNew Gem.ā
*Note: Only Gemini Advanced users can create Gems for now.
Give the new Gem a name and add the instructions. You can use Gemini to help rewrite and expand on your instructions. Just click 'Magic Pencil' at the bottom of the instruction window to rewrite them.
Before saving the custom Gem, you can preview the response. The preview window is located right next to the instruction window, where you can enter a prompt to see how your Gem responds.
Save your Gem. The "Save" button is located at the top right corner. All your Gems will be available at the left sidebar.
*Note: Enable relevant extensions in settings for the best experience.
