OpenAI Plans 12 Days of 'Shipmas' 🎅
OpenAI has officially announced its “12 Days of OpenAI” event, a two-week initiative where the company will unveil a new product or feature every weekday.
Details:
According to sources familiar with OpenAI’s plans, the announcements will include Sora, OpenAI’s text-to-video AI tool, and a new reasoning model.
Sam Altman described the event as a mix of major launches and some “stocking stuffers,” with each weekday reveal accompanied by a livestream showcasing the new product or feature.
One of the announcements is also rumoured to include a Santa-like voice for ChatGPT with some users saying that the company is also planning to replace the voice mode button with a snowflake.
The long-awaited launch of Sora comes after the model was leaked just last week, amid growing competition from rivals like Google’s Veo, Runway Gen-3, and others in the AI video generation space.

Google DeepMind's Genie 2 Transforms Images into Immersive, Playable 3D Worlds
DeepMind has revealed Genie 2, a new world model capable of transforming a single image into a fully interactive 3D environment that users can explore for up to one minute.
Details:
The 3D environments are in 720p resolution, and users can explore these spaces with a keyboard and mouse, in both first- and third-person perspectives.
The system simulates core physics like gravity, collisions, and water movement, along with dynamic lighting, reflections, and smoke effects.
Genie 2’s spatial memory preserves areas not visible to the user, keeping environments consistent when players return to previous locations, solving a common issue in earlier 3D generators.
Genie 2 has the potential to help developers create unique, playable experiences quickly, saving time and costs. It could be especially useful for indie devs by allowing them to focus on gameplay rather than environment building.
