NVIDIA

Nvidia is All In on AI at Computex 2024 🔥

Nvidia announced a range of new products and updates at the Computex conference in Taiwan.

Key announcements:

  • The company introduced its next generation of AI chips, dubbed “Rubin,” to succeed the previous model, which was announced just months earlier in March. Nvidia has pledged to release new AI chip models on a “one-year rhythm.”

  • Nvidia unveiled Project G-Assist, a new AI gaming assistant that gives players real-time tips on weapons, tactics, and game settings.

  • The company also showcased ACE, a suite of technologies for bringing digital humans, AI non-player characters (NPCs), and interactive avatars to life with generative AI.

The company clearly intends to quicken its already-accelerated pace of AI chip advancement. Nvidia’s dominance is not going away any time soon.

OPENAI

Quality Over Quantity for AI Training Data, Says OpenAI CEO

In a recent interview, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, emphasized the critical importance of high-quality training data for developing the next generation of AI models.

Details:

  • OpenAI currently has enough data to train the successor to GPT-4, according to Altman.

  • The company is exploring ways for AI systems to learn more efficiently from less data, rather than relying on massive amounts of synthetic/human training data.

  • The possibility that too much AI-generated data could harm an AI system’s training doesn't seem to concern Altman, who said that low-quality data from either source is the real problem, highlighting the need for rigorous data curation.

His comments seem to be in line with the company’s decision to pay millions to get access to “high-quality” data from news organizations. Still, he acknowledges that much scientific progress is needed to find the most appropriate data and techniques for future AI systems.
