NVIDIA Unveils Project GR00T: Empowering Humanoid Robots 🤖

NVIDIA has introduced Project GR00T, an AI foundation model designed to revolutionize humanoid robot learning. The project, which stands for Generalist Robot 00 Technology, was presented at the GTC conference.

Details:

• Acting as the “mind” for advanced robots, GR00T enables them to quickly acquire skills like coordination and dexterity from just a few human demonstrations.

• The model takes multimodal instructions and past interactions as input and produces the actions for the robot to execute.

• Nvidia claims it is already working with some of the biggest names in robotics including Boston Dynamics, 1X Technologies, Agility Robotics, Apptronik, and Figure AI.

With Nvidia joining the efforts, we may soon have more intelligent robots capable of completing dangerous or repetitive tasks and assisting people in various ways.

Microsoft Taps Inflection CEO to Run Microsoft AI

Microsoft has appointed Mustafa Suleyman, CEO and cofounder of Inflection, to lead a newly established division called Microsoft AI.

Details:

• Microsoft is reshaping its AI leadership structure with executive appointments and the creation of a division called Microsoft AI, which will focus on Copilot related research and other consumer AI products.

• Additionally, the tech giant has hired several employees from Inflection AI, including co-founder Karen Simonyan as Chief Scientist.

"This infusion of new talent will enable us to accelerate our pace yet again," remarked Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella in the blog post, highlighting the company's commitment to maintaining its leadership position amidst growing competition from players like Google.

How to collaborate with Gemini in Google Slides

Now you can leverage Gemini to generate slides, images, text for your presentations in Google Slides. The Gemini integration is available directly without requiring any installations.

*Note: This feature is rolling out gradually and may not be available to you yet.

Here's how to use it and what it can do:

1. Generate a slide

Click on the Gemini icon at the top right and describe the slide you want to create, it will then show you a preview. If you're unhappy with the outcome, simply select "Retry" for a different result.

Finally, click on "Insert," and you'll have your AI-generated slide that you can further modify to your preferences.

2. Generate an image

You can generate an image in Slides, just click the Gemini icon again and write your prompt to generate the image. You can also choose the style.

Once the image is generated, hover over it and click on “insert” to add it to your current slide.

3. Summarize or write content

Gemini can understand your slides and help you summarize or complete them.

Select the Gemini icon and write your prompt. You can ask it to summarize your entire slideshow or provide an appropriate closing.

Then, select Gemini’s answer and click on “insert” to automatically create a text field in your current slide.
