NVIDIA

Nvidia CEO Dismisses Altman's Alleged $7 Trillion Initiative 🤯

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang recently questioned Sam Altman's $7 trillion plan to overhaul the global semiconductor industry. Speaking at the World Government Summit, Huang emphasized the role of technological advances in reducing AI costs.

Details:

  • Huang said he has confidence that the chip industry will lower the cost of AI, as its components are made “faster and faster and faster.”

  • Huang's perspective suggests that the development of better, more cost-efficient chips could render Altman's ambitious investment plans unnecessary.

  • He also urged countries to build sovereign AI infrastructure to take advantage of the economic potential of AI.

Time will tell whether Altman's ambitious $7 trillion vision is unrealistic or if Huang is being overly optimistic. In the meantime, Nvidia’s market value briefly surpassed that of both Amazon and Google yesterday, making it the fourth most valuable U.S. company, and showcasing the escalating influence of AI within the tech sphere.

OpenAI

Protesters Call on OpenAI to Slow AGI Development

A group of protesters gathered outside OpenAI's San Francisco headquarters demanding the startup cease military work and give up their plans to build artificial general intelligence (AGI).

Details:

  • Dozens of protesters showed up from groups like Pause AI and No AGI to express concerns about OpenAI's work on cutting-edge AI.

  • This comes after OpenAI removed the clause prohibiting the use of AI for military purposes from its terms of service. It is reportedly working with the Pentagon on cybersecurity projects.

  • The protesters want OpenAI to end relationships with military organizations and face external regulation of its AI development process.

  • However, the main concern is OpenAI's research into AGI. Both groups call on OpenAI to stop or slow progress towards advanced AI and AGI, which they see as potentially dangerous technologies.

The protest taps into growing fears about advanced AI, you can explore some of the protesters' ideas on their website.
