Nvidia Overtakes Apple, Microsoft As Most Valuable Company 💸

Chip-maker Nvidia became the world's most valuable company after its share price climbed to an all-time high on Tuesday

Details:

• Nvidia's shares climbed 3.5% to $135.58 on Tuesday, pushing its market capitalization to $3.335 trillion. This propelled the company past Microsoft and Apple, which had been competing for the top spots in recent days.

• The surge in Nvidia's market value has been driven by demand for its chips, which are the gold standard in the AI space.

• Nvidia controls about 80 percent of the market for AI chips used in data centers needed to run AI models.

As the demand for AI technology continues to soar, Nvidia's market dominance is likely to persist. This fervor is reflected in Nvidia’s market value, which took only 96 days to rise from $2 trillion to $3 trillion, significantly faster than Microsoft (945 days) and Apple (1,044 days).

Google's New AI Generates Audio Soundtracks from Pixels

Google's AI research company DeepMind has unveiled a new AI tool capable of generating realistic soundtracks for both AI-generated videos and traditional footage.

Details:

• This technology combines text prompts with analysis of the video pixels themselves, allowing it to create audio that precisely matches the visuals and tone of any given scene.

• The AI tool was trained on videos, audio tracks, and annotations containing “detailed descriptions of sound and transcripts of spoken dialogue.”. This allowed the system to establish connections between visual cues and appropriate audio events.

• The tool has limitations. Researchers are working on improving lip-sync accuracy with dialogue. They also mention that their video-to-audio system depends on video quality; grainy or distorted footage can noticeably lower audio quality.

The tool is not generally available yet; Google will subject it to "rigorous safety assessments and testing" first. Once it becomes available, it will feature a SynthID watermark to indicate that it's AI-generated and to prevent potential misuse.
