NVIDIA
Nvidia to Design New AI Chips Every Year
Nvidia has announced plans to design and release new AI chips on an annual basis. This decision marks a significant acceleration from the company's previous strategy of introducing new chip architectures roughly once every two years.
Details:
The announcement comes on the heels of Nvidia's record-breaking $14 billion profit in a single quarter, driven primarily by sales of its AI chips.
This decision was revealed by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang during the company's Q1 2025 earnings call.
Huang cited the immense demand for Nvidia's AI GPUs, with some customers purchasing or planning to purchase over 100,000 units of the H100 GPU by the end of the year.
The new chips will be “electrically and mechanically backward-compatible” and run the same software as previous generations, allowing for an easy transition.
The company's plans to accelerate AI chip production will surely help maintain its lead in a field where it is already far ahead of its competitors.

This is a big leap forward to doing real data analysis with GPT-4o. It still can't quite handle the way many people use spreadsheets (Excel formulas, etc.) but it is pretty impressive.
You can zoom into spreadsheets and ask about cells, modify graphs, etc. I trimmed 45 seconds.
