Meta Connect 2024: New AI Features, Ray-Ban Smart Glasses and More
At Meta's 11th annual Connect conference, CEO Mark Zuckerberg introduced exciting updates to their AI tools and wearables.
Details:
Now, you can talk to Meta AI on Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram. The feature is starting in select countries and uses voices like Awkwafina and Dame Judi Dench for a personal touch.
Meta AI can understand and edit pictures, and dub videos, aiming to make it a more natural part of daily tech interactions.
Smart Glasses Upgrade: Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses get new features, including translation and real-time city tours.
AR Headset Prototype: Meta showed off Orion, their new AR headset prototype, promising big things for future tech.
Meta seems to be closing the gap with competitors and setting the stage for more user-friendly experiences with greater accessibility.

OpenAI is undergoing a significant transformation with notable leadership changes. Key executives, including long-time CTO Mira Murati, are leaving as the company plans a major restructuring.

CTO Mira Murati, Head of Research Bob McGrew, and VP of Research Barret Zoph have announced their departures. Murati's decision sparked a series of changes aimed at a smooth leadership transition.
Mark Chen steps in as the new Head of Research, and Jakub Pachocki becomes Chief Scientist. Matt Knight moves up as Chief Information Security Officer.
According to insiders, OpenAI is transitioning to a for-profit model while its non-profit arm will hold a minority stake. This change could value the company at $150 billion.
With this transition, CEO Sam Altman is set to receive shares in the for-profit company for the first time.
OpenAI's leadership shakeup and structural changes mark a pivotal point for the startup. With new leaders in place and a strategic shift towards a for-profit model, OpenAI is set to attract more investors and change the way the company is managed.
