New ‘Dream Machine’ AI video generator by Luma Labs

Luma AI has released "Dream Machine" - a new tool that can create realistic video clips from text descriptions or images.

Details:

• Dream Machine uses advanced AI models trained directly on video data to generate physically plausible scenes with proper physics and character interactions.

• The AI understands how people, animals, and objects move, allowing it to maintain consistent characters and realistic motion in the generated videos.

• Dream Machine can only generate 5-second video clips for now.

• However, there are still some limitations in terms of consistency, problems with rendered text, and occasional glitches.

• Dream Machine is the first in a planned series of "Frontier Generative Models" from Luma AI for generating different types of content from different inputs.

Luma has made the tool available for public testing right away. You can try it yourself here. The free plan gives you 30 generations for the month.

OpenAI Doubled Annualized Revenue in 6 Months

Recent reports indicate that OpenAI's annualized revenue has more than doubled in just six months to reach a staggering $3.4 billion.

Details:

• OpenAI's annualized revenue hit $3.4 billion recently, up from $1.6 billion at the end of 2023 and $1 billion a year ago.

• The bulk of this revenue comes from subscriptions to the paid version of ChatGPT with higher usage limits.

• Developers integrating OpenAI's large language models into their apps and services are another major revenue stream.

• Around $200 million annually comes from OpenAI's partnership with Microsoft.

The report highlights another instance of a company that has greatly benefited from the AI boom. Just days ago, Apple reclaimed the title of "World's Most Valuable Company" as its stock began to rise following the introduction of a series of AI features for its devices.

South Korean AI chip firms to Merge, Challenge Nvidia

South Korean AI chip developers Rebellions Inc and Sapeon Korea Inc are pursuing a merger, announced Sapeon's parent company SK Telecom Co on Wednesday. The move aims to challenge global AI chip leader Nvidia within the next two to three years as the AI boom continues.

Apple will give OpenAI exposure in new deal, not cash

According to a report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the partnership between Apple and OpenAI does not currently involve any monetary payments from either party. The exposure OpenAI will gain by being featured on hundreds of millions of Apple devices is "of equal or greater value than monetary payments," according to Apple.

Oracle, Microsoft, and OpenAI announce a new partnership

OpenAI and Microsoft are teaming up with Oracle to gain more compute capacity for running ChatGPT. As part of a partnership announced this week, the three companies are working together so that OpenAI can utilize the Microsoft Azure AI platform on Oracle's infrastructure.
