DeepMind's AlphaFold 2: Accelerating Drug Discovery with AI
Source: isomorphiclabs
DeepMind has unveiled the newest iteration of its revolutionary AlphaFold system for protein structure prediction which was released back in 2020. This latest AlphaFold 2 model promises to accelerate drug discovery and design like never before.
Details:
Expanded capabilities: The new AlphaFold can now predict the structures of ligands, nucleic acids, and post-translational protein modifications in addition to proteins.
Applications for drug discovery: Predicting protein-ligand structures enables researchers to identify and design novel drug compounds. AlphaFold eliminates the need for current docking simulations.
Enhanced accuracy: Preliminary tests demonstrate AlphaFold dramatically exceeds its predecessor at predicting antibody structures.
AlphaFold is already being applied by DeepMind's drug discovery spinoff, Isomorphic Labs. Its capabilities will likely lead to faster and cheaper drug development across the industry.

AI crowned 2023's word of the year
Source: Collins Dictionary
Artificial intelligence was named 2023's word of the year by Collins Dictionary, reflecting its growing impact on our lives. With quadrupled usage this year, AI is now as commonplace as email or streaming. The word of the year usually reflects the preoccupations of that time and the concerns remain on what the rise of AI will bring.
AI diagnoses diabetes in seconds through voice analysis
New research shows AI can diagnose type 2 diabetes in just seconds by analyzing subtle changes in a person's voice. Scientists trained a machine learning model to detect vocal differences between diabetic and non-diabetic patients. The AI focuses on variations in pitch, intensity, and other acoustic features. The voice-based AI could provide remote, automatic testing without the need for in-person exams or blood draws.
Quora Shares Revenue With Bot Creators
