Unused Videos Become a Goldmine for AI Training
YouTubers and social media creators are turning their unused video footage into a lucrative side hustle, with AI companies like OpenAI and Google offering thousands of dollars for exclusive, unpublished videos.
Details:
Companies such as OpenAI, Google, and Moonvalley are paying creators between $1 and $4 per minute of unused footage to train their AI models. High-quality 4K videos and unique formats like drone footage are fetching even higher prices.
Social media influencers often shoot hours of video content that never makes it online, and by licensing it to AI companies, it offers a way to earn money beyond traditional ad partnerships.
Talent agencies and licensing platforms are stepping in to negotiate contracts, ensuring that creators are compensated fairly and their reputations are safeguarded.
Most deals include terms to prevent misuse, such as forbidding the creation of digital replicas of creators.
While this is great news for creators, Industry experts believe this trend may only last a few years, as the demand for such training data could decrease once AI systems mature.

How AI Is Saving Billions of Years of Human Research Time
A TED talk by Max Jaderberg, a research scientist at DeepMind, about the potential of AI to accelerate scientific research.
Jaderberg discusses how AI can analyze large amounts of data, identify patterns, and make predictions that would be impossible for humans to achieve alone.
He gives the example of AlphaFold, a program that predicts protein structures, as a demonstration of how AI can solve real-world problems.
Thatβs a wrap!
