Google I/O 2024 – the 7 biggest AI announcements 💥
Google's annual I/O developer conference just wrapped up, and as expected, AI stole the show. Let’s go over 7 of the most exciting AI-related announcements Google made at the event.
Gemini 1.5 Pro's capabilities were enhanced for translation, reasoning, and coding, with its context window doubled to 2 million tokens
Google also introduced Gemini 1.5 Flash, a new multimodal AI model optimized for fast, narrow tasks with low latency.
Gemma 2 is getting a new 27-billion-parameter version optimized for GPU and TPU acceleration. This next generation of Google’s Gemma models will launch in June.
Gemini 1.5 Pro is being integrated into Google Workspace's core apps like Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Gmail as an interactive AI assistant that can fetch information, write emails, and remind users of tasks.
Project Astra is Google's ambitious vision for a multimodal virtual assistant that can watch and understand what it sees through your device’s camera and will do whatever you ask it to, from finding your missing glasses to reviewing code. According to Demis Hassabis, the leader of Google’s AI efforts, 'It’s that helper, that’s just useful. You get used to it being there whenever you need it.'
