  • Google also introduced Gemini 1.5 Flash, a new multimodal AI model optimized for fast, narrow tasks with low latency.

  • Gemma 2 is getting a new 27-billion-parameter version optimized for GPU and TPU acceleration. This next generation of Google’s Gemma models will launch in June.

The latest in AI and Tech

Google CEO Sundar Pichai stated the company will address any potential misuse of YouTube content by OpenAI for training its video-generating AI model Sora. His comments followed OpenAI's tech chief expressing uncertainty over whether YouTube videos were utilized in the model's training data.

As Meta eyes the AI wearables market, reports suggest the company is developing AI-assisted earphones with integrated cameras. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has evaluated multiple designs, but remains unsatisfied with the prototypes so far, as Meta strives to bring this innovative product to fruition.

OpenAI is losing two pivotal figures at the forefront of AI safety research. Co-founder Ilya Sutskever and AI safety researcher Jan Leike are departing after nearly a decade. Sutskever expressed confidence in OpenAI's AGI ambitions as he embarks on a new "personally meaningful" venture.

Google is expanding its technology to detect AI-generated content across new mediums. The company's SynthID watermarking tool, which already identifies AI-created images and audio, can now detect artificially generated video and text outputs as well.

Google has addressed concerns about user data privacy now that AI features are coming to Google Workspace. The company has affirmed that it will not utilize customer files stored on its platform to train AI models like the upcoming Gemini version or any other AI system.
