Google has made a significant announcement in the field of AI with the introduction of Gemini, its latest and most advanced AI model. The Gemini series comprises three variants:
Gemini Ultra: Positioned as the largest and most sophisticated model, tailored for complex tasks.
Gemini Pro: Geared towards versatility, capable of scaling across a wide array of tasks.
Gemini Nano: Designed for efficiency, particularly suitable for on-device tasks. Will run on mobile devices like the Pixel 8 Pro.
Gemini Ultra was trained to be “natively multimodal”, it can understand nuanced information in text, images, audio, and code and answer questions relating to “complicated” topics, such as math and physics.

The version of Gemini launching this week, Gemini Pro, is essentially a scaled-down iteration of the more powerful, capable Gemini Ultra model set to arrive sometime next year.

Google's Gemini LLM outperforms OpenAI's GPT-4 in 30 out of 32 benchmarks, but the difference between the two models is often minimal. And with GPT-5 already in the works, the competition seems to be getting tougher and tougher.

Meta Launches New AI Features on Messenger, Instagram

Meta detailed several updates to its Meta AI tools in a blog post today. The company claims to be working on over 20 new AI tools to enhance experiences across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp before the end of the year.
Key updates include:
Imagine with Meta AI grants public access to image generation through Meta's foundational Emu model. The images will bear a watermark, indicating their AI origin.
A "reimagine" feature enables collaborative image generation within Messenger and Instagram group messages. Users can take turns providing text prompts to iteratively modify pictures.
On Facebook, AI offers personalized birthday greetings for connections and assists in creating or refining regular posts. A similar feature will be introduced on Instagram, offering creators automated suggestions when responding to common questions from fans within direct messages.
