Gemini Can Now Connect With Your Google Search History

Google's Gemini AI assistant can now use users' search histories to provide more personalized and relevant responses.
Details:
The feature is powered by the Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental model and will only reference your search results if its AI determines it is “helpful” after analyzing your query.
For example, if you ask Gemini for restaurant recommendations, it will refer to your food-related search history to provide relevant suggestions.
Users can disable the feature at any time and will receive transparency about how their Search history is being used.
Gemini and Gemini Advanced subscribers on the web can enable the feature by selecting “Personalization (experimental),” and it’s gradually rolling out on mobile.
Another significant change is that free users can now create their own Gems and access the Deep Research feature.
Google is leveraging its Search capabilities—its biggest competitive advantage—to make Gemini stand out as the most personalized AI assistant. The company also plans to eventually connect Gemini to other apps like YouTube and Google Photos, allowing it to “provide more personalized insights, drawing from a broader understanding of your activities and preferences.”

Xbox Announces New AI Assistant for Gamers: "Copilot for Gaming"

Xbox is introducing “Copilot for Gaming,” an AI-powered assistant designed to enhance the gaming experience as the “ultimate gaming sidekick.”
Details:
This voice-activated companion offers real-time tips, gaming advice, reminders, and even some playful trash talk to make your gaming experience more interactive and fun.
The assistant can also notify you when your friends are online and ask if you want to jump into a game with them, or adapt to your solo style if no one is online.
Xbox partnered with game studios to ensure the AI’s responses are accurate, as information found on the internet can sometimes be misleading or outdated.
Currently, Copilot for Gaming is only available through the Xbox mobile app, appearing as a second screen while you play. Xbox plans to improve the feature based on user feedback.

How to create Google’s 'Gems' for free

Now, everyone can create Gems for free as part of Google Gemini. Previously, this feature was only available to Gemini Advanced users.
Similar to ChatGPT's custom GPTs, Gems lets you create custom versions of Gemini. One difference is that Gems allows you to access extensions such as YouTube, Drive, Maps, and more.
Go to the Google Gemini website.
Click on ‘Gem Manager’ and select ‘New Gem.’
Give the new Gem a name and add the instructions. You can use Gemini to help rewrite and expand on your instructions. Just click 'Magic Pencil' at the bottom of the instruction window to rewrite them.
In the Knowledge section, you can upload any files or PDFs for your Gem to reference. You can add up to 10 and remove them at any time.
Before saving the custom Gem, you can preview the response. The preview window is located right next to the instruction window, where you can enter a prompt to see how your Gem responds.
Save your Gem and start a chat.
To make changes, click on ‘Gem Manager’ again, then select ‘Edit’ on your Gem. After making your changes, click ‘Update’ to save them.
*Note: Enable relevant apps in settings for the best experience.

You can also use premade Gems like Brainstormer, Career Guide, Coding Partner, Learning Coach, and Writing Editor.
Note: You can access the Gems you created on mobile, but you can only create new ones on the web.
