Google's New Reasoning Model Explicitly Shows Its 'Thoughts' 🧠

Google has released an experimental "Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking" model that "explicitly shows its thoughts" to solve complex problems.

Details:

  • This new model is designed to handle tough, detailed questions, and unlike OpenAI's o1 reasoning model, Gemini 2.0 allows users to access its step-by-step reasoning through a dropdown menu, so they can see how the solution was reached.

  • The model is trained to break down complicated instructions or questions into smaller tasks. By focusing on one small step at a time, it avoids errors and ensures a more solid final answer.

  • It can reportedly process and deliver its "thought-out" answers faster than competing reasoning AI models, which often sacrifice speed for depth of reasoning.

  • The model isn't limited to text; it can reason through problems that combine both words and images.

Google has made Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking available on its AI Studio platform, so anyone can try it and see the reasoning in action.

Apptronik Partners with Google DeepMind to Advance AI-powered Humanoid Robots

Google DeepMind and Apptronik have announced a partnership to create advanced AI-driven humanoid robots capable of operating in dynamic and complex environments.

Details:

  • The goal is to create robots that can work effectively in environments typically designed for humans, such as factories and warehouses.

  • Apptronik’s latest creation, Apollo, is a humanoid robot standing 1.73 meters tall and weighing 73 kilograms. Designed for industrial environments, Apollo is built to work safely and collaboratively alongside humans.

  • The partnership aims to enhance Apollo’s abilities by integrating Google DeepMind’s AI technology and Gemini models, allowing it to process complex tasks and adapt to its surroundings more effectively.

Apptronik has developed 15 robot models over the years and has partnerships with major players like GXO and Mercedes-Benz, with more partnerships planned for next year.

How to generate images from other photos without any prompt

This new tool lets you use images as prompts instead of text, enabling you to remix a photo by changing its subject, scene, and style.

  1. Go to the Whisk home page and sign in with your Google account.

  2. Choose one of three templates to generate your image:

    • A sticker creates a flat image similar to those found in messaging apps.

    • An enamel pin adds more depth to the image.

    • A plushie results in a three-dimensional image.

Whisk will automatically select an image for the style based on the template you choose.

  1. Pick the image you want to use for the subject. You can either select one of the images provided on the page or upload your own.

  2. Gemini will analyze the images for style and subject, then combine them to create a new image. If you don't like the result, you can change the subject and try again.

👉 If you want more control, select the option to start from scratch. Choose images for the subject, scene, and style, either by uploading your own or using a prompt. Whisk will display multiple images based on the mix, which you can refine by adding/removing images or editing the prompt.

All the images you generate are automatically saved to your Whisk library, and you can delete or download them as you wish.
