Google Enhances Gemini with Custom Chatbots and Image Generation

Google has rolled out exciting updates to its Gemini platform, introducing custom chatbots called Gems and improved image generation powered by Imagen 3.

Details:

• Users will be able to design their own ‘AI experts’, called Gems. They can customize these chatbots by writing specific instructions and assigning names, allowing for personalized interactions.

• Google offers several ready-to-use Gems, including roles such as learning coach, idea generator, career advisor, writing consultant, and programming partner.

• Imagen 3 creates stunning images, from realistic landscapes to artistic animations. It includes safety measures like SynthID watermarks and aims to avoid sensitive or inappropriate content.

• Gems will be available for Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise users, and Imagen 3 will roll out across all Gemini platforms in the coming days, supporting both desktop and mobile.

In addition to these new features, Google plans to reintroduce image generation for select Gemini users in the coming days. This feature was temporarily suspended in February due to instances of historically inaccurate and potentially misleading images.

• Microsoft, which has already invested around $10 billion in the startup, is expected to join the new funding round.

• Despite its annual revenue surpassing $3.4 billion earlier this year, OpenAI is reportedly set to lose nearly $5 billion by year-end and has already spent $8.5 billion on AI training and staffing.
