Google Expands its AI-powered search experience to 120+ New Countries and Territories 🌐

Source: Google

Google has announced it is rolling out its Search Generative Experience (SGE) worldwide along with a range of enhancements and upgrades.

SGE is now available in over 120 additional countries and territories beyond its initial launch markets like the US, India, and Japan. You can check the full list here.

New Upgrades:

  1. SGE will support four new languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Korean and Indonesian.

  2. Google is testing follow-up questions directly on search results pages. This allows users to easily dive deeper into a topic while reviewing previous questions and answers.

  3. For English-to-Spanish translations, SGE can now clarify meanings of words with multiple potential interpretations. Users can tap the word to select the intended meaning.

  1. Since August, users have been able to use SGE to define unfamiliar terminology used in answers about select educational topics: science, economics, and history. Now, you can ask for definitions in other areas like coding and health.

Google aims to continuously improve SGE to match experiences like Bing Chat. But they note this is just the initial phase, with more AI innovation to come.

ChatGPT goes down: OpenAI blames hackers

OpenAI revealed this week that a cyberattack is likely behind the outages plaguing ChatGPT. The AI startup says it spotted signs of a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack, where hackers try to overload systems by pinging them repeatedly. OpenAI called it an "abnormal traffic pattern" but said it's working to mitigate the issue.
