Google's 'Project Jarvis' AI Tool That Can Control Your Web Browser 🤯

Google is working on an AI assistant named "Project Jarvis" that can independently carry out tasks in web browsers on behalf of users. The tool aims to simplify online activities such as researching, shopping, and booking flights.

Details:

• Jarvis can independently navigate the Chrome browser, regularly taking screenshots and analyzing them to perform actions like clicking or entering text.

• Initially, Jarvis will be limited to the Chrome browser and is designed for consumer use.

• The assistant has some limitations, such as being relatively slow, as it takes several seconds to "think" before each action.

• Jarvis is expected to launch in December alongside Google’s new Gemini language model, though plans are still being finalized.

The success of this new assistant will depend on overcoming performance challenges and gaining user trust, as these types of assistants raise concerns about sharing sensitive data.

AI-Powered Transcription Tool Used in Hospitals Invents Things No One Ever Said

An AI-powered transcription tool called Whisper, developed by OpenAI, has been found to invent entire passages of text during transcriptions.

Details:

• A group of researchers from Cornell University, the University of Washington, and other institutions found in a study that Whisper hallucinated in about 1 percent of transcriptions, including racial and violent rhetoric, as well as imagined medical treatments.

• Even more concerning is the rush by medical centers to use Whisper-based tools for transcribing patient consultations, despite OpenAI's warnings about their use in "high-risk domains."

• Whisper is being used in hospitals to transcribe doctor-patient interactions and is estimated to have transcribed 7 million medical conversations, according to ABC News.

HallucHallucinations remain a problem for AI systems used in critical settings, such as hospitals. Experts are calling for swift action to address these issues, as the consequences of these errors can be significant.
