Google Releases Veo 2 & Upgraded Imagen 3 🔥

Google has raised the bar in AI-generated content with the release of two new models: Veo 2 for video creation and an improved version of Imagen 3 for image generation.

Voe 2:

  • Google’s Veo 2 can generate 4K videos and even handle filmmaking instructions like lens types and camera effects. It also produces fewer "hallucinations" like extra fingers or random objects.

  • The model is praised for improving how it represents realistic physics and can now create videos lasting several minutes.

  • In comparisons using more than 1,000 prompts, Veo 2 beat OpenAI's Sora Turbo and other competitors in both video quality and how well it followed the given instructions.

  • For now, Veo 2 will be available on select platforms like VideoFX, YouTube, and Vertex AI.

Imagen 3:

  • Google's Imagen 3 now delivers better color balance, supports a wider range of artistic styles, and follows prompts more faithfully, rendering richer details and textures.

  • In side-by-side comparisons of outputs rated by humans, it outperformed leading image generation models like Ideogram and DALL·E 3.

  • It’s available in more than 100 countries through the ImageFX tool.

Google's Veo 2 and Imagen 3 models mark significant progress in AI-generated content, coming just days after the release of Gemini 2.0. Google has certainly aimed for a strong close to the year.

OpenAI Rolls Out ChatGPT Search to All Users

Starting today, OpenAI is making its AI-powered search engine available to everyone, after previously being limited to paid subscribers.

Details:

  • ChatGPT's search engine was first introduced in October for paid subscribers and is now available to all. However, you still need to log in to your account to use it.

  • The feature has been updated to improve search speed and accuracy, offering faster, more precise results.

  • The mobile version of the feature has also been upgraded to feel more like a traditional search engine, displaying results with images, ratings, hours, and map directions for local spots like restaurants and attractions—all within the app.

  • ChatGPT's Advanced Voice mode now includes search capabilities, allowing users to conduct searches using voice commands.

These updates are rolling out globally across all platforms where ChatGPT is available.

How to talk to Google's AI podcast hosts

Google’s NotebookLM and Audio Overviews have been a surprise hit this year, and Google recently introduced a major feature: the ability to talk with the AI “hosts.”

Here’s how to use this new feature:

  1. Create a new Audio Overview.

Audio Overviews allows you to create an AI-generated podcast based on your source materials.

👉 Open NotebookLM, create a new notebook, and add at least one source document. Then, click the “Generate” button and wait a few minutes for the podcast to be created.

  1. Tap the new Interactive Mode (BETA) button, then hit play.

  1. While listening, tap “Join.” The AI host will call on you to speak.

  2. Ask your question. The hosts will respond with a personalized answer based on your sources.

  3. After answering, they’ll resume the original Audio Overview.

*Notes:
This new tool is still an 'experimental feature.' To try it, you need to create new Audio Overviews; it won’t work with old ones.

Google warns that AI hosts may "pause awkwardly before responding and may occasionally introduce inaccuracies."
