MICROSOFT

GitHub Copilot Now Offers Access to New Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI Models ⭐

GitHub announced that its auto-completion and programming tool Copilot will support multiple AI models. Developers will now be able to choose models from Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI to work with GitHub Copilot.

Details:

  • Developers will have the option to switch between various AI models, such as Claude 3.5 and Gemini 1.5 Pro, to find the best fit for their coding needs.

  • GitHub is also announcing Spark, a new AI tool designed to help users build web apps using natural language.

  • Upcoming Features: Copilot will introduce multi-file editing in VS Code starting November 1st, and new features for Xcode are also on the horizon.

Microsoft-owned GitHub launched its AI tool Copilot in 2021 and currently has over 1 million paid subscribers. Offering more model options from OpenAI’s biggest rivals is an interesting strategy for Microsoft.

Meta Is Reportedly Developing Its Own AI-Powered Search Engine

Meta is reportedly developing its own AI-powered search engine that would provide AI-generated search summaries of current events within the Meta AI chatbot.

Details:

  • Meta's new search engine is designed to decrease its reliance on Google and Microsoft Bing, which currently power its AI chatbot on platforms like Instagram and Facebook to answer questions about recent news and events.

  • Meta has been developing a web crawler to build a comprehensive database, which has been in the works for about eight months.

  • Meta has also recently secured a multi-year deal with Reuters to gain access to the outlet’s news articles, which could be related to this initiative.

Meta is not the only one; OpenAI has also confirmed it's working on an AI search engine called SearchGPT.

How to search your old chats in the ChatGPT web app

OpenAI has just introduced a new search icon lets you easily find past chats. This feature is rolling out to Plus and Team members now, with free users getting access next month.

To start searching your chat history:

  1. Log in to ChatGPT on your web browser.

  2. Locate the Search magnifying glass in the left sidebar. You can also use ctrl+k on PC or cmd+k on Mac.

  3. Type in keywords or phrases you remember from the conversation you want to find. ChatGPT will search through all your past conversations based on the keywords in the titles and content. (For now, only exact matches are supported, so it's best to use specific keywords.)

  4. View the search results, which will display a list of conversations that match your search terms. Click on any result to open the conversation and continue where you left off.

*Note: Canvas contents cannot be searched.
