Google's Gemini 2.5 Model Family Is Here

Google announced the new Gemini 2.5 family, with built-in reasoning to handle more complex problems and support advanced, context-aware agents. The first model in the lineup, Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental, is said to be the company's “most intelligent model” yet.

Details:

• Like its predecessors, Gemini 2.5 Pro processes text, audio, images, video, and code—a range of inputs unmatched by competing models.

• The model leads in advanced reasoning benchmark tests, excelling in math, science, and coding. It instantly claimed the No. 1 spot on the Chatbot Arena LLM Leaderboard.

• It offers one of the largest context windows among experimental models on Gemini, starting with a 1 million-token context window and with plans to expand to 2 million tokens soon.

• The new model is available as Gemini 2.5 Pro (Experimental) on Google’s AI Studio and for Gemini Advanced users on the Gemini chat interface. It is also set to launch on Vertex AI soon.

Google appears to have taken a leap ahead of competitors like OpenAI and Anthropic, but with the rapid pace of AI, that could change soon.

OpenAI Brings Native Image Generation to ChatGPT

OpenAI has integrated image generation capabilities directly into ChatGPT, allowing its GPT-4o model to natively create and modify images and photos.

Details:

• GPT-4o with image output provides more accurate and detailed images than DALL-E 3. It can also edit existing images by transforming them or inpainting details like foreground and background objects.

• Users can upload images, have the AI analyze them, and then refine or expand on the results through back-and-forth conversation.

• OpenAI claims to have trained GPT-4o on “publicly available data” and proprietary data from partnerships with companies like Shutterstock to power the new image feature.

• Sam Altman announced that the new system allows more creative freedom, including potentially offensive content "within reason," while still prohibiting deepfakes, and violence.

GPT-4o's native image generation is live today in ChatGPT and Sora for Pro subscribers, with the feature set to roll out soon to Plus and free ChatGPT users, as well as developers using its API service. It is part of OpenAI’s recent move toward a more integrated AI experience instead of separate tools.

1. Sign in to Gmail if you haven’t already.

2. Click on the Ask Gemini option in the top right corner, represented by a star-shaped icon.

If your inbox has piled up with long conversations, Gemini can provide a quick summary instead of scrolling through each message.

• Open the email thread you want to summarize.

• Click "Ask Gemini."

The number of unread emails in your inbox can add up quickly, but Gemini can help you filter through them. You can specify which label Gemini should check or choose a topic.

• Start a new email or reply to an existing one.
