Google Introduces Gemini 2.0 Flash, Flash-Lite, and Pro 👀

Google has launched three new Gemini 2.0 variants, each tailored for different use cases and providing a range of performance and cost options.
Details:
The updated version of the Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking “reasoning” model is now generally available to Gemini app users in the model dropdown on desktop and mobile, offering higher rate limits and improved performance.
Google is also launching Gemini 2.0 Flash-Lite, a cost-effective variant for developers, currently available in public preview through the API.
Finally, the lineup is completed with Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental, a model designed for complex prompts and coding tasks. It features an extended context window of 2 million tokens—twice that of the Flash versions.
The models currently support only text output, but all three can process image and audio as input.
This seems to be just the beginning, as Google recently revealed plans to spend about $75B to boost its AI offerings this year.

NVIDIA and CMU Researchers Train Humanoid Robots to Mimic Pro Athletes with AI

Nvidia researchers, in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University, have introduced a new system called ASAP (Aligning Simulation and Real Physics), which provides a new way to make robots trained in virtual environments move more naturally in the real world.
Details:
Robots trained with this system demonstrate significantly better accuracy when transitioning from simulation to real-world tasks compared to older methods, reducing motion errors by 53%.
The system has two steps: training robots in a simulated environment and then using a model that adjusts for real-world differences.
A humanoid robot, Unitree G1, performed forward jumps over one meter and mimicked movements of sports stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and LeBron James.
Nvidia sees ASAP as just the beginning, with hopes of teaching robots more complex and natural movements, setting the stage for robots that can move with greater precision and agility in the real world. The team has shared their code on GitHub, encouraging others to contribute.

How to use Apple's new Invites app for planning your next event

The Invites App is a standalone app for creating custom invitations, sharing them with a group, and RSVPing. While similar event invitation apps exist, they don't offer this level of integration with Apple's ecosystem.
Download the app
The Invites app is free to download from the App Store for all iPhone models running iOS 18 or later. There's also a web version-
Tap the Create Event button or the + button to get started.
Tap Event Title, enter a name, and choose from four fonts.
Add a background by choosing from your photo library, the app’s gallery, or generating one with Apple Intelligence via the Playground button.
Set the date, time, and location by tapping Date and Time. Enable Include End Time if needed. Select Done when finished.
Next, set the location by selecting your current location or searching for a venue in the Search Locations field.
In the Hosted by [Your Name] box, select Add a description and type what you'd like your guests to know in the Event Description field. Use Apple Intelligence’s Writing Tools for assistance. Select Done to exit the writing tools, then tap Done again to save the event details.
You can also attach an Apple Music playlist for your guests to listen to when they receive the invite. Tap Add Playlist to choose or create one.
Preview the invitation by tapping Preview to see what your friends will see. Make sure everything looks good, then tap Next.
To send the invite to multiple people, choose the Invite with Public Link option. For a private gathering, tap Choose a Guest under Invite Individuals and select the people you want to invite.
When people respond, they will appear in the Guest List section.
