Figure AI Presents Helix: A Breakthrough in Humanoid Robotics

Robotics startup Figure has announced its latest AI system, Helix, which enables humanoid robots to perform complex tasks through voice commands. From organizing a fridge to handling unfamiliar objects, Helix is showing significant progress in making robots useful for real-world household applications.
Details:
Helix uses two AI components: a 7-billion-parameter language model for processing speech and visuals and an 80-million-parameter controller for executing precise movements.
The system can control 35 degrees of freedom, allowing robots to grasp, lift, and interact with objects accurately. For example, two robots successfully stored food in a refrigerator without prior training on the objects.
Helix required only 500 hours of training data, far less than similar systems, and runs on built-in GPUs, making it a step closer to commercial use.
This offers a glimpse into how humanoid robots that can easily adapt to new tasks could play a role in household chores in the near future.

Security Researchers Find Grok 3 Critically Vulnerable to Hacks

Researchers at the AI security company Adversa AI have found that Grok 3 is extremely vulnerable to "simple jailbreaks," which bad actors could use to "reveal how to seduce kids, dispose of bodies, extract DMT, and, of course, build a bomb."
Details:
Adversa AI found that three out of the four jailbreak techniques it tested worked against the model. In contrast, OpenAI and Anthropic's AI models successfully blocked all four.
The researchers also warn that the vulnerabilities could allow hackers to take over AI agents and perform harmful actions, such as sending malicious links.
A French startup, PRISM Eval, reached similar conclusions, claiming the chatbot's safety filters can easily be bypassed to make requests about dangerous and illegal activities.
xAI will likely address these issues soon, but it’s not the only company facing them, as the rush to release AI models means security can take a backseat. As AI grows more powerful, balancing speed with safety is crucial to prevent potential harm.
