Musk's xAI to Open-Source ChatGPT Rival Grok 🤯
Source: X
Elon Musk announced that his AI company xAI will open-source its Grok chatbot this week. This move follows Musk's recent lawsuit against OpenAI, which he co-founded in 2015, for allegedly abandoning its non-profit principles in pursuit of a for-profit model.
After making the announcement on X, Elon Musk took the opportunity to jab at OpenAI once again. When a Twitter user suggested OpenAI should do the same, Musk responded briefly: 'OpenAI is a lie.'
By open-sourcing Grok, xAI will provide the public with access to experiment with the technology's underlying code.
The debate about open sourcing AI has intensified since Musk filed a lawsuit against the maker of ChatGPT. While open-source AI models can accelerate innovation, some experts warn that they could be exploited by malicious actors to create dangerous technologies.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Reinstated After Investigation

OpenAI has announced that CEO Sam Altman will rejoin the company's board following an independent investigation into his abrupt firing in November of last year.
The key findings from the probe conducted by law firm WilmerHale include:
Altman's conduct "did not mandate removal" from his leadership roles
Altman and co-founder Greg Brockman "are the right leaders for OpenAI" to continue
The decision to fire Altman was driven by a "breakdown in trust" with the prior board, not concerns over product safety, finances, or misrepresentations
Board chair Bret Taylor stated the investigation reviewed over 30,000 documents and interviewed board members and employees before reinstating Altman. Three new board members were also announced:
Sue Desmond-Hellmann, former CEO of the Gates Foundation
Nicole Seligman, former legal executive at Sony
Fidji Simo, CEO of Instacart
While details remain vague around the circumstances that eroded trust with the previous board, OpenAI seems intent on moving forward under Altman's continued leadership after weathering this disruptive internal challenge.

How to make Gemini’s AI responses more precise
Gemini now lets you tune and modify responses with a prompt, just follow these easy steps:
Select a part of Gemini’s response to your prompt, and a pencil/sparkle icon will appear to “Modify selected text.”
Click the icon, and that will open a box containing options like Regenerate, Shorter, Longer, and Remove, along with an open text field.
Write your prompt in the open text field.
Example:
I want the response to suggest a brand, so:
Gemini will note in the top-right corner how “Draft [was] modified by user.” :
Keep in mind that you may receive the response 'Gemini couldn't do that' if your prompts fail to guide the chatbot on how to modify the response correctly or if you request unsupported text formatting changes.
*Note: The tune response capability is gradually rolling out, starting with English on the Gemini web app. It may not be available to you just yet.
