Elon Musk’s xAI Buys Elon Musk’s X
A few years after purchasing Twitter for $44 billion, Elon Musk announced that his AI company, xAI, has acquired the social media platform X in an all-stock deal.
Details:
The combination values xAI at $80 billion and X at $33 billion ($45 billion minus $12 billion in debt).
Musk described the companies’ futures as ‘intertwined,’ claiming that the merger will ‘unlock immense potential by blending xAI’s advanced AI capability and expertise with X’s massive reach.’
The two ventures have been tied together closely since the launch of xAI in the summer of 2023, with the AI company accessing the vast trove of data from the social app and X/Twitter integrating xAI’s Grok chatbot into the platform.
The arrangement suggests that X's true value may lie in advancing Musk's AI ambitions, which have already delivered impressive results in a short time, as he continues his push to catch up with OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and Anthropic.

Runway Releases New Video Generation Model
Runway, the AI startup backed by major names like Google, Nvidia, and Salesforce, has launched its latest AI model—Gen-4. The company claims it is one of the most advanced AI-powered video generators to date, setting new standards in fidelity, dynamic motion, and controllability in generative media.
Details:
Gen-4 allows users to generate videos with consistent characters, locations, and objects across scenes. It also adapts elements to different angles, lighting conditions, and perspectives, all without additional training.
The new model also excels at generating highly dynamic videos with realistic motion, style consistency, superior prompt adherence, and best-in-class world understanding.
Gen-4 was trained on a vast number of video examples to 'learn' patterns and generate synthetic footage, although the company has not disclosed the source of the training data.
It is available now for all paid plans and enterprise customers.
Although the new model offers significant improvements, Runway still faces stiff competition in the video generation space, including from OpenAI and Google. Despite this, the company has managed to differentiate itself by inking a deal with a major Hollywood studio and is reportedly raising a new round of funding that would value the company at $4 billion.

Select “Create New Podcast” and provide details such as the title, description, and type.

Amazon just introduced Nova Act, a general-purpose AI agent that can take control of a web browser and independently perform some simple actions.
Alongside the new agentic AI model, Amazon is also releasing the Nova Act SDK, a toolkit that allows developers to build agent prototypes with Nova Act.
Apple is developing a new version of its Health app that would include an AI agent designed to somewhat “replicate” a doctor and act as a personal health coach.
