Elon Musk Asks US Court to Block OpenAI's For-Profit Conversion š„
Elon Musk is ramping up his legal battle against OpenAI, the AI company he helped co-found.
Details:
Muskās attorneys have filed a preliminary injunction to stop OpenAIās transition to a fully for-profit model, claiming the move violates its original nonprofit mission.
The motion also accuses OpenAI, its co-founders, and investor Microsoft of engaging in anticompetitive practices that harm rivals, including discouraging investment in competitors like Musk's xAI and benefiting from sensitive information through Microsoft connections.
Musk alleges he was defrauded of over $44 million in donations to OpenAI and warns of āirreparable harmā if the injunction isnāt granted.
OpenAI, founded in 2015 as a nonprofit, adopted a ācapped-profitā model in 2019 and is now transitioning to a fully for-profit company.

Another Safety Researcher Leaves OpenAI
Rosie Campbell, a policy researcher at OpenAI, has announced her resignation, citing concerns over the companyās direction and the recent dissolution of its "AGI Readiness" team.
Details:
Campbell, who worked on AI safety and policy for over three years, left OpenAI following the resignation of Miles Brundage, a senior policy advisor who headed the AGI Readiness team.
The team, which advised on the worldās capacity to safely manage AGI, was disbanded, with its members reassigned to other parts of the company.
Campbell expressed unease with shifts in OpenAIās trajectory, particularly its transition to a for-profit model and focus on product rollouts over safety.
OpenAI has faced a wave of high-profile resignations, including co-founder Ilya Sutskever, Jan Leike, and CTO Mira Murati.
This marks yet another departure from OpenAIās safety-focused staff, raising questions about the companyās commitment to ensuring the safe development of artificial general intelligence (AGI).
