Elon Musk has taken the wraps off Grok-1.5, the latest iteration of its generative AI model set to power the social network X’s Grok chatbot in the coming days.
The key upgrades with Grok-1.5:
Boasts significantly improved reasoning capabilities, especially for coding, math, and problem-solving tasks.
It can process contexts of up to 128,000 tokens.
Not only surpasses its predecessor but closes in on leading AI models like GPT-4 and Claude 3, according to the benchmarks shared by the company.
Grok-1.5 will soon be available to early testers on X, accompanied by 'several new features,' which were not specified in the blog post. AI RESEARCH
AI Fact-Checking Outperforms Humans at 20x Lower Cost
Source: Google DeepMind
Researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, and Google DeepMind have demonstrated that AI language models with access to search engines can provide more accurate fact-checking than human annotators.
Details:
The researchers used a tool they developed, Search-Augmented Factuality Evaluator (SAFE), which breaks down text responses into individual facts, checks them for relevance, and verifies them with Google searches, allowing it to assess the accuracy of each factual claim.
SAFE agreed with human fact ratings only 72% of the time. However, when ratings conflicted, SAFE was correct 76% of the time compared to just 19% for humans
Not only was SAFE more precise, it proved 20 times less expensive than employing human fact-checkers
The findings hold significant implications for LLMs in real-world applications, especially where factual accuracy is vital. They show that LLMs with Internet access can be an effective tool for automated fact-checking.
