OPENAI

Dall-E 3: OpenAI's sneak peek at the Multimodal future

OpenAI announced the third version of its generative AI visual art platform DALL-E. This text-to-image generator will be integrated into ChatGPT to produce detailed images from natural language prompts.

Details of what can be expected from Dall-E 3:

  • Better image quality and detail thanks to enhanced prompt understanding

  • Easy prompting - just tell ChatGPT what you want to see, and it will suggest prompts for Dall-E 3

  • Accurate text rendering in images - very useful for logos, ads, and more

  • Commercial usage rights - you can use Dall-E 3 images freely without needing permission

Dall-E 3 will roll out to Plus and Enterprise ChatGPT users in the coming weeks. OpenAI is also letting artists opt-out of having their work used to train Dall-E 3 and future AI models.

The multimodal AI future is almost here. Dall-E 3 provides a sneak peek at the creative possibilities ahead when brilliant bots can both understand and generate anything we can imagine.

AI RESEARCH

Google unveils groundbreaking Generative Image Dynamics

Google has introduced an innovative new technology called Generative Image Dynamics that can transform static images into dynamic, interactive scenes. This has exciting implications for content creation, metaverse experiences, and more.

Source: Google Research

Key Highlights of this paper:

  • The technology can generate seamless looping videos from a single image by predicting motion patterns and trajectories.

  • It enables realistic user interaction with objects in static images by simulating response dynamics.

  • The core of the system is a meticulously trained model that learns from real-world motion sequences. This allows it to understand diverse dynamic behaviors.

  • Downstream applications include looping videos, motion editing, and interactive dynamics in response to simulated forces.

Big-Name Authors Add Firepower to Copyright Fight Against AI

More authors including George R.R. Martin sued OpenAI for copyright infringement, joining other writers pursuing legal action against AI companies for using their books without permission to train models. The Authors Guild and 17 well-known authors filed in New York, hoping for a class action status. They allege OpenAI copied works "wholesale" and could create derivative content that harms their market. OpenAI said it's having "productive conversations" with creators and is optimistic about finding mutually beneficial solutions. This lawsuit follows other recent cases against OpenAI over copyright issues as generative AI navigates IP concerns.
