Copilot Gets a Superbowl Ad and New Features 📺

Microsoft is making a bold move to highlight its AI efforts by airing a commercial for its new Copilot assistant during the Super Bowl on Sunday- signaling the company's heavy investment in AI technology.

Alongside the Super Bowl ad, Microsoft is rolling out new features for Copilot to enhance user experience and image creation capabilities. Users can now highlight objects in AI-generated photos, blur image backgrounds, or add effects like pixel art, all within the app. Plus, expect a sharper look and feel for the app overall.

If you’re a Copilot Pro subscriber you will also be able to resize and regenerate images between square and landscape without leaving chat. Finally, the company announced a new Designer GPT within Copilot, which will offer immersive, dedicated canvas where you can visualize your ideas.

Google Rebrands Bard as Gemini and Launches Gemini Advanced

Google has made a major update to its AI chatbot offering, rebranding Bard as Gemini and introducing a paid subscription. This gives users premium access to Google's most sophisticated language model to date.

Details:

  • The new model will be available to those who have signed up for the Google One AI Premium Plan, priced at $19.99 per month. It includes two terabytes of cloud storage in Google Drive and other benefits from the Google One subscription.

  • Gemini Advance provides access to Gemini Ultra 1.0, Google's new top-performing language model, which outperforms GPT-4 in 30 out of 32 benchmarks, according to their reports.

  • Google has also redesigned the Gemini interface for improved user experience

It will finally be possible to test Google’s claims and see if Ultra is indeed “the most powerful and capable large language model (LLM) yet”.

Microsoft to train 2 million Indians in AI by 2025

White House advisor to lead new AI safety institute

The Biden administration has named Elizabeth Kelly, a senior White House economic policy advisor, as the inaugural director of the AI Safety Institute established under an executive order last fall. Kelly will spearhead efforts to develop rigorous testing procedures for major AI developers by July 2024. The testing standards aim to validate the safety of AI systems for consumer and business applications.
