Claude 3.7 Sonnet plays Pokemon Red live on Twitch
Anthropic’s latest AI model, Claude 3.7 Sonnet, is turning heads on Twitch by playing Pokémon Red in a livestream experiment called Claude Plays Pokémon.
Details:
The AI model has managed to win three gym badges so far, a significant improvement over its predecessor, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, which couldn’t even leave the starting house in Pallet Town.
The left side of the Twitch stream shows Claude’s thought process in real time, offering viewers insight into how the AI reasons through its moves.
Viewers have described the AI’s pace as agonizingly slow but strangely compelling.
Anthropic uses Pokémon as a benchmark to test Claude’s reasoning capabilities. Other video games, like Street Fighter have long been used by researchers to test AI models in fun and creative ways.
While the AI stumbles through simple tasks like recognizing Professor Oak or navigating around a rock wall, the stream provides a captivating glimpse into the current state of AI reasoning and its quirky limitations.

OpenAI Introduces Improved ChatGPT Deep Research and Free Voice Mode
OpenAI has introduced exciting updates to ChatGPT, including a free voice mode for all users and significant improvements to performance and accessibility for its Deep Research feature.
Details:
OpenAI now offers a version of Advanced Voice powered by GPT-4o Mini to free ChatGPT users, delivering high-quality conversation at lower operational costs. Plus users still get Advanced Voice with GPT-4o, with five times the daily limits of free users and added video and screen-sharing features.
ChatGPT Plus, Team, Education, and Enterprise users now have access to the Deep Research feature with 10 queries per month, while Pro users get 120 queries.
The company claims that the feature now embeds images with source information in its output and is better at "understanding and referencing" uploaded files.
This is great news for ChatGPT users who have wanted to try these features but couldn't due to paywalls, especially Deep Research, which was only available with the $200 per month Pro subscription.

The Chinese giant is open-sourcing four models that are part of its Wan2.1 series, the latest version of the company’s foundational AI model that can generate images and video from text and image inputs.
